UPSC CDS Syllabus 2016
The syllabus for UPSC CDS Written Exam consists of 3 subjects- English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. It should be noted that candidate who have chosen to apply for the post of Officers’ Training Academy are not required to give Elementary Mathematics section.
The subject English will be the first paper for the candidates. The total marks on offer is 100 and candidates would be required to choose an answer from the given options. The syllabus for English paper is given as under:

How to prepare the Syllabus?
The CDS Exam 2016 has been framed in such a manner that only smart candidates would be able to qualify for the next round. It is not necessary only those candidates will pass, who have exceptional knowledge and have been toppers throughout their career. Here are some points which will assist a candidate to enhance his preparations:
- It is not important to concentrate on each and every chapter. For an instance, if you are weak in mensuration, then you can afford to leave out the whole chapter and focus more on the remaining section. In this way, you will be able to score well in the remaining paper.
- You should have a plan for your paper. Starting off the paper with your strength areas is a good way to gather confidence and marks early on. However, confidence shouldn’t turn into overconfidence.
- Avoid last minute additions. If you are trying to learn a new chapter in the last minute, it might affect your revisions. Hence, you can leave out any new inclusions in the last minute.
