The Exam Pattern of CDS is based on two sets of examination, namely written examination and the interview. Both the examination consists of given marks and a candidate is selected on the basis of his performance in both the tests.

  • Interview – 200 marks

Written Examination

The first barrier in the path is an objective-type written examination where candidates are required to prove their academic brilliance. Exam Pattern for Candidates who have applied for Officers’ Training Academy

Interview: As per new UPSC CDS exam pattern, Only those candidates who have qualified the first level are called for the Interview round. Under this round, a candidate has to pass through two sections-

  1. a) Officer Intelligence Rating test, and
  2. b) Group Testing Tasks, Psychological tests and personal interviews.

A candidate who is invited to the Interview round is marked out of 200 marks. The marks will be divided according to specific weightage as determined by the authority.

Selection of a candidate: A candidate is selected on the basis of his overall score as obtained in the Written Examination and the Interview.
