We are giving here the complete eligibility criteria for SSC CHSL Exam 2016 like nationality, age limit, qualification and more.

A good way to gain the reassurance is by going through the eligibility criteria and checking the given conditions. Failing to satisfy any one of the given condition will result in disqualification of a candidate.

The eligibility criteria for CHSL 2016 is divided into three broad segments, namely:

  • Citizen Eligibility,
  • Age Eligibility, and
  • Education Eligibility

Citizen Eligibility

The first eligibility criteria states that a candidate can appear for the CHSL Exam 2016 only if he belongs to one of the following categories:

  • Indian citizen,
  • Bhutan’s subject
  • Nepal’s subject
  • A descendant of a Tibetan refugee who had come to India prior to 1.1.1962 and has permanently settle down since then.
  • A person of Indian Origin who belongs from countries of Eastern Africa, Sri Lanka, Burma or Pakistan and has permanently settled down in India.

Age Eligibility (As on 1-1-2017)

18 to 27 Years (Born between 2-1-1990 to 1-1-1999) : The age eligibility restricts candidates from all age groups to participate in the CHSL exam 2016. Only those candidate who fall in between the age group of 18 years to 27 years can apply for this examination. However, there are exceptions to this rules as the Government offers certain age relaxation to the following groups:

Schedule Tribe (ST) 5 years
Schedule Caste (SC) 5 years
Other Backward Castes (OBC) 3 years
Physically handicapped (PH) 10 years
PH + OBC 13 years
PH + ST/SC 15 years

Minimum Qualification (As on 1-1-2017)

Must Passed 12th Standard: The final eligibility is the educational qualification degree. Every candidate who is looking forward to appear for CHSL exam should have passed Class XII from any board or university which is recognized by the Government. The original mark sheet would be verified at the time of job offer and the numbers should be exactly the same as was entered while making an online application.

Points to note:

Computation of Age: Many candidate are often confused while computing their age. For the purpose of online application, candidates should compute their age from the date on which the notification was published, until and unless the department has specifically mentioned a date which is to be considered.

Exemption of examination fee: The Government has added an extra cushion to the people who belong to the reservation quota. If a candidate belong to SC or ST or OBC or any other category as mentioned in the reservation chart, then he / she need not pay anything for the exam. The candidate gets an exemption from paying examination fee.
