For candidates who are applying for Group C posts, the age limit for them is between 18 to 27 years. Exceptions to this are the post for ‘Sub Inspector of CBI’ at 18- 25 years and ‘Tax Assistant for CBDT’ at 20-27 years.

c) Educational Qualification Eligibility

As per the official notification, candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institute. The term ‘recognized’ suggests that the university or the institute from which the Bachelor’s degree has been obtained should be recognized by the Government.

Points to know:

Date of Birth: The authority has explicitly mentioned that a candidate’s date of birth would be calculated from the same day which has been mentioned in Secondary examination certificate or Matriculation certificate.

Calculation of Age: A candidate’s age has to be computed from the date of notification or any date as specified by the notification. For an instance, if the notification has been released on 1st August 2016 and the notification is silent about the date from which the candidate’s age would be computed, then it will be assumed that the date of release is the benchmark.

Proof for reservation category: A candidate, inorder to avail the relaxation for reserved category has to show a proof of his identity. The identity should clearly suggest that the candidate belongs to one of those categories for whom age relaxation has been kept.
