Syllabus for Steno Exam 2016 – Complete Detail

One should be aware of the fact that the exam is due on 27th December 2015 and hence, there is very less time left for preparation. Nevertheless, the time is sufficient to handle the given sections.

1)     English Language and Comprehension

This is the largest section of the examination. About 100 questions would be asked from this section and a candidate has to try his level best to answer most of them correctly. Sentence structure, antonyms, synonyms and para phasing are amongst one of the favourite sections of the examiner. In this section, the syllabus includes:

Comprehension Para-jumble Antonyms Synonyms
Hyponyms Fill in the blanks Sentence correction Vocabulary usage

2)     General Awareness

This is probably one section which has no syllabus. In short, a candidate can consider that general awareness is everything under the sun. Questions can come from any section which includes politics, sports, economy, affairs and what not. The only way to gain an edge in this section is to be updated with the recent happening which is taking place in India and abroad. Questions can be answered from the following section:

Indian Economy Book-author Sports World summits
Banking terms Civics Indian Geography Country-Currency
International issues Sport-Person Dates Research

3)     General Intelligence and Reasoning

This section is all about using your skills. There are 50 questions in this section in which you can easily attempt about 35 questions within 30 minutes. Since there are cut offs for ever section, try and be logical in attempting from this section. Investing too much time in this section can be a horrendous mistake. Here are some of the key areas where you need to focus-

Decision making Data sufficiency Seating & Arrangements Analysis
Visual memory Sequencing Syllogism Linkage

The most important factor in the syllabus for Steno Exam 2016 is that it is time bound. Therefore, even if you are ready to solve all the question from one section, you will be forced to move on to the next section. A total of 120 minutes is available within which there are 200 questions to be handled. What makes this exam trickier is that there is negative marking for every wrong answer. If a candidate is unsure about an answer, then the only wise thing that he can do is skip the question and move to the next one. Trying to attempt too many questions will result in too many mistakes.

Note: There will be extra time for candidates who are visually challenged and their question paper will not consist of questions based on graphs or maps.
