MP Postal Department Recruitment 2016: 374 Postman Vacancies

On April 9 2016, an official notification for recruitment of Postman and Mail Guard was circulated from MP Postal Department. The purpose of this notification was to invite the people of India for a job of the aforesaid mentioned posts in MP Post Department.

Application Date & Application process

The notification by MP postal department mentions that interested candidates can make an application from 10 April 2016 to 05 May 2016 (till 23:59 hrs). Application should be made online. For this purpose, candidates should log on to (the official website) and look for the link to register online. Registration will become successful upon payment of registration fee. Candidates belonging to General category are required to pay INR 400 as application fee and other candidates who belong to SC/ ST/ OBC or any other reserved category are exempted from payment of application fee. However, necessary evidence needs to be shown in respect of claim made during the application process. Even if the candidate does not have any medium to pay online, payment can also be made via challan.

Eligibility Criteria

As per the notification published by MP Postal Department, candidates who are making an application are required to comply with certain eligibility criteria.

i) Age of the Candidate: Between 18 to 27 years, however, age exemption available to non-general candidates

ii) Educational Qualification: The candidate must have complete matriculation from a recognized board.

Pattern of Exam & Syllabus

The exam will be based on an aptitude test consisting of 100 marks with a duration of 2 hours. During the exam there will be 3 parts which a candidate would be required to answer:

PART A- General Knowledge: 25 questions, each carrying one mark

Topics- Geography, Current Affairs, Indian History, General Science, Economics, Culture & Sports.

PART B- Maths: 25 questions, each carrying one mark

Topics- Mensuration, Profit and loss, Time and Distance, Ratio Proportion, Partnership, Number system, Use of table and graphs.

PART C (i)- English– 25 questions, each carrying one mark

Topics- Passage, Articles, verbs, tenses, vocabulary, proverbs, sentence structuring, phases, etc.

PART C (ii)- Regional Language– 25 questions, each carrying a mark

Selection Procedure

MP postal department will select on the basis of their performance in the exam. There are different thresholds for this exam and every candidate must score a minimum score in each PART to be eligible.

1) Score in PART A and PART B- Min. 10 Marks for general, 8 marks for ST/ SC and 9 marks for OBC

2) Score in PART C (both)- Min. 10 Marks for general, 8 marks for ST/ SC and 9 marks for OBC

3) 40% score required for general category, 37 marks for OBC and 33 marks for ST/SC.

Candidates who have qualified would be selected on a probation period of 2 years. Cases where two candidates have scored the same mark in the merit list in the last position, the candidate whose is more aged will be preferred over the other.
