  • He passed away on 5th January 2016 after a heart attack.

  • Om Puri was famous Indian actor & Padma Shri awardee.
  • Puri has acted in commercial Indian, American, and British & Pakistani films.
  • He has also starred in independent & art films.
  • Puri is alma mater of NSD (National School of Drama) & FTII.
  • His first Marathi Film was Ghashiram Kotwal in 1976.
  • He is a Haryana resident and was born in 1950.
  • Puri is also recipient of OBE (Order of the British Empire).
  • He has also received many Indian film awards.
  • Some of his Hollywood films are Wolf, ‘City of Joy’ & Gandhi.
  • Puri has also starred in many Hindi television shows.

  • SCP (Smart Cities Project) was initiated in year 2014 by PM Modi.
  • Objective is developing 100 ‘smart Cities’ in India by 2020.
  • Total budget for the project is expected INR 48000 crore.

1st American-African to be sent to NASA space station

  • 1st American-African to be sent to NASA space station.
  • The launch will be done in 2018 by NASA.
  • Announcement was made by NASA on 4th January 2017.
  • Jeanette Epps & Andrew Feustel are chosen for the mission.
  • Epps is a first-flight astronaut & Feustel is a veteran astronaut.
  • Epps became the 1st African-American to be sent to space.
  • He will act as flight engineer at the Expedition 55.
  • After that, he will become commander of Expedition 56.
  • Epps was appointed as a NASA astronaut in 2009.
