  • Qatar went to -1.5 degree Celsius on 5th February 2017.
  • It was an early morning recorded temperature.
  • It was recorded at southwest Qatar, Abu Samara.
  • QNA (Qatar News Agency) announced this news.
  • Qatar is a desert nation from the gulf region.
  • It beat previous record temperature of 3.8 degree Celsius.
  • It was recorded by QMT (Qatar Met Department).
  • Reasons attributed were high pressure in the area.
  • The nation is usually unbearably hot during this time.
  • The temperature usually crosses 50 degree Celsius.
  • Laborers are banned from work for several hours during day.
  • Qatar also shifted 2022 FIFA dates to November from summers.
  • This was to avoid Qatar’s fierce heat.

  • Former Director of CBI Joginder Singh passed away.
  • He oversaw many high-level cases across the nation.
  • Some of them were Fodder scam of Bihar & Bofors Scam.
  • He was IPS Officer from Karnataka Cadre, 1961 batch.
  • He became CBI director during Deve Gowda’s tenure.
  • Singh joined CBI in 1996 during as its Director.
  • CBI was probing many cases during that period.
  • He served various posts before joining CBI.
  • He worked in states like Karnataka, Bihar etc.
  • Singh also led many delegations to USA, UK, France etc.
  • He has written more than 25 books as writer.
  • Singh also served as CRPF’s Inspector General.

  • It is a practice of cruelty, torture & inhuman act.
  • The procedure also leads to death of women.
  • Around 200 million women’s & girls alive have undergone FGM.
  • Somalia stands on top with 98 percent.
  • Guinea & Djibouti come 2nd & 3rd
  • The procedure results in severe bleeding & health issues.
  • These are infection, cysts, infertility & childbirth complications.
  • Sustainable goal is ending FGM by 2030.

  • World’s oldest emoji were discovered recently.
  • Slovakian Curators made this discovery.
  • It is believed to be in a 382 year old accounts book.
  • This accounts book was of a Slovakian Lawyer.
  • The drawing is recognized as smiley-face emoji today.
  • It was signed by this lawyer as go-ahead.
  • He was checking multiple account papers in one village.
  • Previous oldest emoji was found in 1648.
